Women's Golf Continues Spring Schedule at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla.- The Sailfish women’s golf team competed early this week in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational at the Tuscawilla Country Club course hosted by Rollins College. The team continues to gain experience as a first-year program with four Palm Beach Atlantic golfers taking the course against some of the best competition they will see all spring.

Senior Allie Puchferran led the team once again with a very solid three-round score of 249 after shooting 82-85-82. The Boca Raton, Fla. native tied for 51st in the strong field of players.

Freshman Hayley Betz finished second on the squad with a consistent three-round score of 300 (100-100-100) while Jenny Kowal came in at 355 (114-117-124) for her three rounds. Bailey Sprague rounded out the team’s participants with a 516 (166-193-157).

The tournament was won by Lynn University with a cumulative three-round score of 903 to finish 39+ for the tournament. They earned a ten stroke victory over Florida Tech (913) and a 19 point spread over the host Tars of Rollins College (922).

Johanna Larsson earned a three-stroke victory over Samantha Smolen of Lynn for the individual title at 218 (75-73-70).

Up next for the ‘Fish will be the Lady Bucs Invitational in Miami, Fla. hosted by Barry University on Mar. 16-18.
