MELBOURNE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic could not hold on to their lead late in the ballgame against Florida Tech and fell to the Panthers 5-2 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon from Seminick-Hall Field.

The Sailfish grabbed their first lead of the series in the second inning of the game thanks to an RBI single by Patrick Nickler that scored Andres Vazquez. Anthony Ortiz would add another run-scoring single to bring home Nickler and give PBA the lead.

FIT trimmed the margin to just one with a single run in the fifth inning, but then erupted for four runs in the seventh courtesy of three bean balls and two errors, taking the lead and eventually the series.

On the pitching front for Palm Beach Atlantic, Alex Greener (Loss, 0-3) turned in his best performance of the season, going six innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out six and walking none. The PBA bullpen did not allow an earned run in their two innings of work.

For the third game in the series, PBA outhit FIT, this time by a 9-6 margin. Vazquez marked his return to the starting lineup with a 2-for-5 day that included a double, while Nickler and Ortiz also finished with two hits, going 2-for-3.

Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Wednesday night, taking on Ave Maria University at Palm Beach Gardens High School.
