Allie Puchferran Leads the Way as Women's Golf Continues to Show Improvement

ORMOND BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s golf program continued to gain experience on Sunday and Monday as they participated in their second spring tournament of the year by competing in the Gary Freeman Invitational. Hosted by Bethune-Cookman University at the Halifax Plantation Golf Club, the ‘Fish were led by a top-5 finish from senior Allie Puchferran.
As a team the Sailfish finished with a combined score of 842 to finish fifth in the field that was won by Converse College with a combined team score of 675. Hampton University finished second at 708 followed by South Carolina State University (734), Savannah State University (758) and PBA.
Tiana Jones of South Carolina State claimed the individual title as she won the second playoff hole versus Marley Felthousen of Converse College. Both players finished with a two-round score of 154.
Following Pucheferran’s solid showing of a 170 (87-83) the ‘Fish also saw improving totals from Hayley Betz (93-91), Jenny Kowal (111-101) and Bailey Sprague (145-131) to round out the PBA participants.
The course was a 5,839 par-72 course in Ormond Beach, Fla.
The women’s golf team will be off until participating in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Have, Fla. on March 2-4.
