Three Sailfish Golfers Compete at Gary Freeman Invitational

ORMOND BEACH, Fla.- The Sailfish men’s golf team continued their early season competition schedule on Sunday and Monday as they took part in the Gary Freeman Invitational hosted by Bethune Cookman (Fla.) University at the Halifax Plantation Golf Club.
The ‘Fish were led by freshman Ben Murray who finished tied for 27th in the field by completing a two-round showing of 159 (78-81) on the 6,953 yard course. He was followed by Miquel LaRocque who tied for 31st with a score of 161 (82-79) and Bryan Gagnon at tied for 37th with a 168 (83-85).
Leon Fricker of Bethune-Cookman earned the individual medalist honor with a 145 (70-75) just one stroke ahead of Savannah State’s Scott Rogers’ score of 146 (75-71).
Bethune-Cookman also earned the team title with a combined score of 591 to defeat Army by six strokes at 597.
The team will be off until March 2-4 when they will take part in the Warner Golf Classic in Sebring, Fla.
