WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After originally ruling Tuesday afternoon's game between Palm Beach Atlantic and Northwood a suspended game, the cross-town rivals have ruled that the game is now complete and will end in a 9-9 tie.
The Sailfish had a 9-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh, but a grand slam in the seventh and a three-spot in the bottom of the ninth tied the game.
Because there are no lights at Arthur W. Silvester Jr. Field, the game had been suspended. All statistics from the game are now official.
One person who will be happy about the game's completion is PBA junior Chris Farrell. The junior cashes in a 4-for-4 day that also included two runs scored, two walks, and a run batted in. Senior Anthony Ortiz also collected a multi-hit game, going 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. A.J. Steimel went 2-for-4 on the day with two doubles.
On the mound, freshman Sean Horner continued to impress in his second appearance of the season, working four scoreless innings and allowing just one base hit. Robbie Pettet also returned to the bump for an inning of work and struck out two in his lone inning of work.
Nine runs is a season-high for the Sailfish, as are the 18 base hits that PBA accumulated. Palm Beach Atlantic also managed to walk 11 times and were also hit twice, sending their team on-base percentage through the roof for the season.
PBA returns to action on Friday night taking on Philadelphia from the Roger Dean Stadium Complex, starting at 6:00 PM.
