Nicolas Uryson and Liddy Robinson Named NCCAA Tennis Players of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s and women’s tennis teams swept the NCCAA Players of the Week following the opening weekend of competition for the 2014 season. Senior Liddy Robinson earned the distinction on the women’s side while sophomore Nicolas Uryson earned the honor on the men’s side. Both were selected for the first time in their careers.
Robinson, a senior from Coral Springs, Fla. helped lead the women’s tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of Ave Maria (Fla.) University on Sunday in the team’s season opener.
She teamed with Vilja Vahatalo at No. 3-doubles to earn an 8-0 sweep while proving just as strong in singles with a straight-sets win at No. 4-singles.
Uryson, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, guided the ‘Fish men’s team to a 1-1 week with a loss to No. 9-ranked Rollins College and an 8-1 victory over Ave Maria University.
Uryson debuted with a strong performance in the season-opener against Rollins by defeating the No. 38-ranked (ITA) RC player at No. 1-singles by a score of 6-3, 7-5 and then proceeded to claim a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Ave Maria at No. 1-singles.
In doubles, Uryson teamed with Mark Heimberger for an 8-2 win at No. 1-doubles versus AMU.
