WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker on Saturday afternoon to the revenge-minded Florida Southern Moccasins, falling in overtime by an 81-72 final from the Rubin Arena.
After getting its first win against Florida Southern in program history back in December, PBA fell thanks to a miracle three-point shot at the end of regulation that sent the game to overtime. Florida Southern then shot 80% (4-of-5) from the floor in the extra period, and outscored Palm Beach Atlantic 16-7.
Both teams had respectable shooting nights, with the Mocs shooting 44% (27-of-62) and the ‘Fish shooting 37% (16-of-70), but the difference in the game came from behind the three-point line. FSC shot 32% (6-of-19) from beyond the arc, while PBA shot just 16% (3-of-19).
The Sailfish forced the Moccasins into 17 turnovers for the game while committing just 11 themselves, but Florida Southern won the rebounding battle, 45-38.
Individually, PBA was led once again by senior Kasie Parker, who finished the game with 25 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. Fellow senior Jaz Green also added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Newcomer Natalie Wood finished with a career-best seven points.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Wednesday, January 29th against the University of Tampa Spartans, starting at 5 PM.
