MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic women’s basketball team fell into a game-long cold streak on Wednesday night, failing to find their offensive groove against Barry University and stumbling to a 74-47 finish in the Health and Sports Center.
PBA held a 17-16 lead at the 11:46 mark of the first half, but the Buccaneers went on an eye-popping 27-4 run that would all but seal the game’s fate by halftime. If there was any chance for a comeback it raveled away quickly, with the Sailfish failing to score over the first eight minutes of the second half.
Providing a small bright spot for the game was the individual play of Kristie Mason. The sophomore was the only Sailfish to score in double-figures on the night. Senior Jaz Green had nine points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Palm Beach Atlantic shot just 25% (16-for-63) from the floor for the game, while Barry shot 44% (25-for-57) from the field and 36% from behind the three-point line. The ‘Fish had another good night from the charity stripe, going 12-for-14 for 86%.
The Sailfish return to action on Saturday afternoon, taking on NCAA DII No. 4 Nova Southeastern as part of a women’s and men’s basketball double-header starting at 2:00 PM.
