ATLANTA, Ga.- A busy stretch of basketball continued late Monday night for the Sailfish men’s basketball team as they hit the road to take on Morehouse College at the Forbes Arena as part of a two-game swing through the Peach state that will conclude on Tuesday. The Maroon Tigers fought off a 10-point second-half deficit to upend the Sailfish on their way to a 61-56 win as PBA drops to 2-8 on the season.

Junior Evin Graham led the Palm Beach Atlantic efforts with 15 points on a solid 6-of-8 shooting from the floor and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line while also adding in team-best totals of six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

PBA struggled to find their stroke from behind the three-point arc as they finished 3-of-13 (23.1-percent) while the Maroon Tigers managed to knock down 6-of-13 (46.2-percent) from three-point land.

Morehouse also claimed a considerable advantage in rebounding with a 43-28 advantage which helped overcome their 20 total turnovers.

A closely contested first-half did not allow either team to advance their lead to more than six points as a layup by junior Ronnell Ross trimmed the MC lead to 24-24 going into intermission.

After a lackluster shooting effort in the opening stanza, the Sailfish came out firing on all cylinders in the early stages of the second-half as freshman center Cory Kenning’s jumper with 14:22 remaining started the team on a 13-2 lead that saw them lead by as many as 10 points (44-34) with 11:41 to play.

The Maroon Tigers would have an answer however as a pair of 3-pointers from David Buchannon sandwiched around a pair of Donovan Barrett free-throws a few minutes later would seemingly erase both the PBA lead and their momentum.

Although PBA would hold the lead for much of the second-half it would be the home-pressure of Morehouse down the stretch that would prevail as a jumper from Tyrone Brown with 2:16 to play broke a 52-52 tie and the ‘Fish would never lead again.

A 3-pointer from Clayton Williams found the bottom of the net with just over a minute to play that cut the MC lead to 58-56 but Morehouse would close out the game at the free-throw line.

Ross followed Graham in the scoring total for PBA with 10 points off the bench while adding in five rebounds in 19 minutes of playing time.

The Maroon Tigers were led by Buchannon’s 18 points off the bench as he finished 4-of-5 from beyond the arc and 2-of-2 at the free-throw line to cap a big day. Joshua Simmons also contributed 10 points off the bench for MC.

Palm Beach Atlantic will take on Paine College at 4 pm on Tuesday to close out their two-game trip.
