Sailfish Baseball Releases 2014 Schedule

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Palm Beach Atlantic head baseball coach Kent Bottenfield has released the 2014 schedule for the Sailfish which is set to kick off against Lynn University on Feb. 3, 2014. The team will host their first four games of the regular season in early February at the Roger Dean Complex including a three-game series versus Delta State University from Feb. 7-9.
Now in his third season at the helm of the Sailfish baseball program, Bottenfield and his staff believe they have the team and schedule prepared to make a run at earning a first-ever berth in the NCAA Regional Tournament.
The team will host their first nine games within Palm Beach County to start the season with a road contest at Northwood University (Feb. 11) sandwiched between the team’s early-season games at the Roger Dean Complex and home contests versus Philadelphia University (Feb. 14-15) and Florida Memorial University (Feb. 18).
Road weekend series at Florida Tech (Feb. 21-22) and Saint Leo University (Feb. 28-Mar. 1) also fill the early season schedule before a six-game home stand in early March will see the ‘Fish take on Barry University (Mar. 4), St. Thomas University (Mar. 7-8), Winston Salem State University (Mar. 10) and Florida Tech (Mar. 11) to reach mid-season.
Other home series versus members of the Sunshine State Conference include Florida Southern College (Mar. 21-22), Nova Southeastern University (Mar. 28-29), the University of Tampa (Apr. 4-5) and Barry University (Apr. 11-12).
Single games will see the ‘Fish travel to Melbourne, Fla. on March 26th for a neutral site game versus the University of Montevallo while battling Lynn University in a midweek contest in Boca Raton, Fla. on Apr. 1st.
The team will have a prolonged road trip to end the season with their final 12 games to be played away from West Palm Beach. This includes critical region matchups versus Eckerd College (Apr. 18-19), Flagler College (Apr. 25-26) and at Lynn University (May 2-3). Single games at Nova Southeastern (Apr. 15), Barry (Apr. 23), and Rollins College (Apr. 30) also are part of the late season stretch.
The NCAA Regional Tournament is set to take place on May 15-18 at a site to be determined.
