PBA Softball Announces 2014 Schedule

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic softball program and head coach Kimmy Bloemers have announced the upcoming 2014 season schedule with the Sailfish set to begin play on Feb. 1-2 in Columbus, Ga. The Sailfish will host their own Tournament for the first time on Feb. 21-23 while welcoming in opponents for a total of 19 home games for the 2014 season.
The ‘Fish will officially kickoff the 2014 campaign by taking part in the Sunshine State Conference/Peachbelt Conference Crossover on Feb. 1-2 in Columbus, Ga.
The following weekend, Feb. 7-9, the team will travel across the state to Clearwater, Fla. to battle in the Eckerd College Tournament. PBA returns to West Palm Beach on Feb. 12 for their first regular season double-header by traveling to cross-town rival Northwood University.
After a 10-day break the team will welcome in seven other teams to Palm Beach County on Feb. 21-23 for the Sailfish Showdown Tournament to be held at the Lake Catherine Complex. The Sailfish will battle NCAA Division II teams such as Flagler College, Saint Leo University, Goldey-Beacom (Del.) College, Merrimack (Mass.) College and the University of Charleston (W.V.) over a three day period.
The Sailfish will close out the month of February with a road date at Barry University (Feb. 26) before opening March on the road at Florida Tech (Mar. 1) for another double-header.
The team’s first official regular season home double-header will take place on Mar. 5th versus Nova Southeastern University.
PBA’s final in-season tournament will take place on Mar. 8-9 when they travel to Saint Leo University for a two-day event. Following Saint Leo the team will head north to battle in-region opponents Columbus State University (Mar. 11) and Georgia Southwestern University (Mar. 12) in double-headers as well.
Other home double-headers to mark on the calendar include matchups with St. Thomas University (Mar. 21) and Florida Tech (Mar. 25) before opening the month of April with road dates at Nova Southeastern (Apr. 1) and Flagler (Apr. 4).
April includes only one other road double-header against Eckerd College on Apr. 12 while hosting other Sunshine State Conference opponents in Barry University (Apr. 15) and Rollins College (Apr. 17). The team will wrap up regular season play versus Northwood University on Apr. 23 for Senior Day.
The NCAA Regional Tournament is slated to begin on May 9-11 at a site to be determined.
