RALEIGH, N.C. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s basketball team suffered another high-scoring loss on Sunday afternoon, falling to Division II power Shaw University by a final score of 90-70.
PBA got off to a tough start, shooting just 28% (8-for-29) from the field in the first half. The host Bears on the other hand scored a whopping 49 points on 49% (19-of-39) shooting from the floor. The Sailfish were within three points with just over ten minutes remaining in the half, but Shaw went into halftime on a 29-10 run.
The second half would be a different story, however, with Palm Beach Atlantic outscoring Shaw by two in the second stanza. PBA shot 43% (18-of-42) from the floor, and scored 43 points, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome.
The Sailfish were led once again by senior Kasie Parker, who played all 40 minutes for the visitors. She registered 26 points to go along with four steals, three assists, two rebounds and one block. No other PBA player made it to double-digits, but every player in uniform registered at least one point.
Palm Beach Atlantic will have plenty of time to recover from their long road trip, not playing again during the week to avoid finals. The Sailfish are back in action Saturday, December 14th, on the road against Florida Southern College.
