AMERICUS, Ga.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer team ventured north of the Sunshine State border on Sunday afternoon in seek of their seventh win of the season as they were set to take on Georgia Southwestern University at Hurricane Field. For the third time this week the PBA offense was at full throttle as they rattled off seven goals from six different players on their way to a 7-0 shutout victory.

Following similarly lopsided victories earlier in the week versus NAIA foes Ave Maria University and Johnson & Wales University at home the Sailfish (7-6-2) ventured away from Palm Beach County this weekend to take on the Hurricanes (0-17-1) who hail from the Peachbelt Conference (NCAA II).

Although Senior Day for the ‘Fish was on Friday afternoon the program’s two senior players were responsible for the two goals scored by PBA in the first-half of Sunday’s contest.

Andrea Jefferson netted her first goal of the season late in the first-half to get PBA on the board thanks to a Kasey Wyer assist in the 42nd minute. Just 34 seconds later the Blue and White would have another scoring opportunity as a penalty kick was awarded. Head coach James Kryger opted to go with Fox as she made good on the shot for her first-ever goal following her four-year starting career at goalkeeper for the ‘Fish.

PBA outshot the Hurricanes by a 13-2 mark in the first-half while also producing three corner kicks.

The second-half scoring flurry started in the 49th minute when Marissa Pachecho netted her first score of the season after a shot was deflected. Wyer got into the scoring act in the 55th minute as her corner kick blew into the goal for a 4-0 PBA lead.

Down the stretch the Sailfish added on a pair of Kierstyn Harrington goals while Hope Lawson produced her first points of the season just before the final horn sounded for a 7-0 Sailfish victory.

PBA managed a final lead of 24-4 in shots while producing an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Fox made three saves in goal for PBA.

The Sailfish will wrap up regular season play on Thursday, Nov. 17 when they travel to Clearwater Christian College for a 6:30 pm contest.
