Jacob West Sits in Second Place for PBA After Round One of Beyond the Drive Invitational

LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Sailfish men’s golf team continues a busy fall this weekend by competing in the Beyond the Drive Invitational hosted by Warner University at the Lake Wales Country Club. Sophomore Jacob West fired a first-round 70 to stand in second-place just three shots off the lead held by Warner’s Hikari Yamamoto.

Overall the Sailfish men’s golf team came away with a first-round team score of 309 to place them third in the small field of competing teams. Warner leads the pack with a 298 team score followed by the University of Tampa at 303.

West put together a 36 front nine score then followed with a 34 on the back nine to close out his day three shots ahead of third-place Jason Steele of UT who shot a 73.

Other PBA players competing included Ben Murray and Bryan Gagnon who are tied for 21st after the first-round with each shooting a 78. Chris Clancy and Alec Tropea followed for PBA with an 83 and 90 respectively.
