WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-  A few days following their historic trip to Baylor University for their first exhibition contest of the season the Sailfish women’s basketball team had a quick turnaround to host Davenport (Mich.) University on Saturday afternoon in another preseason contest. The Panthers represented their lofty No. 2 preseason ranking (NAIA Division II) as they led the way in a fast-paced contest and left town with a 96-81 victory over the Sailfish.

As was the case in the game versus Baylor the Sailfish saw the prolific-scoring abilities of their two NCAA Division I transfers in Kasie Parker and Jaz Green as the duo combined for 51 of the team’s 81 points on the afternoon as Parker managed 27 points and Green poured in 24 points.

Green showed her all-around worth all afternoon as the Illinois State transfer pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds including 11 on the offensive glass. She finished 8-of-19 from the field for the game while adding in 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Parker finished 9-of-20 from the floor and a perfect 5-of-5 at the free throw line while adding in four rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of court time.

Fellow newcomer Jenny Eickhorst added in eight points off the bench for PBA as the Franklin, Wisc. native added in four assists and three boards in 23 minutes off the bench.

The Panthers were paced by a dominant inside presence of 27 points and 12 boards from Tiesha Stokes on 11-of-20 shooting while adding in four steals and three assists. Allison Bouman (17 points), Linnea Brandholm (13 points) and Kayleigh VanKeulen (11 points) all topped double-figures as well for DU.

Davenport finished shooting 37-of-72 from the field for 51.4-percent while Palm Beach Atlantic was 28-of-79 for 35.4-percent.

PBA will officially open the season on Nov. 9th when they travel to Saint Leo University for a 2 pm tip-off while hosting their home opener on Nov. 12th versus Ave Maria Univesity at the Rubin Arena beginning at 7 pm.
