WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Kenny Hogg and the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish got back on the right track Monday afternoon, with the senior netting two goals en route to a 3-1 Sailfish victory over the University of Tampa at Magic Jack Field.
After being held scoreless as a team for two consecutive matches, the ‘Fish got on the board in the seventh minute thanks to a beautiful connection from Lucas Coutinho to Evan Singlar. It was the second goal of the season for the senior from Currituck, North Carolina.
As the end of the first half neared, junior Melo Matutu found a streaking Hogg on the right side of the box, and Kenny found the back of the net with a header. The Sailfish extended their lead shortly into the second half.
Singlar continued his strong play in the second half, setting Hogg up for his second goal almost immediately. With a three goal lead, PBA worked in some reserves into the rotation, while continuing to apply pressure.
The final shot tally went in favor of the Spartans, who totaled 13 shots to the Sailfish 12. When it came to shots on goal, however, PBA edged UT 5-4. Austin Spagnola picked up the win in goal, making three saves.
Palm Beach Atlantic (8-3-1) returns to action this weekend, taking a late-season trip to the Volunteer State to take on Christian Brothers University on Saturday, November 2nd, and Union University on Monday, November 4th.
