Cross Country Shakes Off the Rust by Competing in Sand Shark Invitational

HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- The Sailfish women’s cross country team competed in their fourth race of the season on Saturday morning but their first in nearly one month as they traveled to South Carolina to participate in the Sand Shark Invitational hosted in Hardeeville, S.C. Although the Sailfish would not register a team score a total of five PBA runners competed as individuals as they hit the home stretch of the season.

Sophomore Lexi Fenton produced PBA’s top time as she ran a time of 20:40 in the women’s 5,000 meter race that featured a total of 204 runners and 22 teams.

Ellie Staker of Embry-Riddle posted the top race time of 17:41 to win the race by 23 seconds over second place Jessy Scarpone of SCAD-Savannah.

Jessica Sexton followed Fenton in the team standings at 21:57 while Brianne Anderson wasn’t far behind at 22:05. Ashley Bofinger finished at 22:40 rounding out PBA’s participants.
