GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Sailfish men’s tennis team has been busy this fall competing in offseason tournaments including this past weekend at the Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzly Open. As part of a solid collective team effort, Palm Beach Atlantic junior Kevin Reifler has been recognized as the NCCAA National Player of the Week for the week of October 21, 2013.
A native of Zurich, Switzerland, Reifler completed a 5-0 tournament record in singles while overcoming a rain delay and a change from hard courts to a clay surface. Due to the weather issues the singles were shorted to an eight-games pro set style to complete the tournament.
He would go on to defeat a NCAA Division I opponent in his flight finals to win the bracket.
Reifler and his playing partner also reached the men’s doubles semi-finals before being defeated by the flight’s eventual champions.
The official NCAA championship season for PBA men’s and women’s tennis will begin in February.
