WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- A first-half deficit of just 1-0 left the Sailfish women’s soccer team within striking distance of Florida Tech on Wednesday afternoon however they were unable to muster any offense in the second-half to make a run at an equalizer. The Panthers would add on two insurance goals just after halftime while finishing with a 3-0 win over the Sailfish at Magic Jack Field.
The loss drops the Sailfish to 4-6-1 on the season while Florida Tech improved to 8-4-1 with the victory.
PBA will host Nova Southeastern University on Saturday, Oct. 26th for their next match as the ‘Fish and Sharks will meet up at 3 pm at Magic Jack Field.
The FIT offense came through with just one first-half goal when Karley O’Brien delivered a pass to teammate Ashley Vezina for a goal in the 17th minute. The Panthers would hold a 9-3 shots advantage in the first-half but clung to a 1-0 lead into the break.
While PBA would have more offensive opportunities in the second-half the depth of FIT would not allow for an offensive run by the ‘Fish as Florida Tech finished with goals by Aubri Williamson (50th minute) and O’Brien (55th minute) to close out the win.
Allison Fox made nine saves in goal for PBA while the backline trio of Karina White, Margaret Stewart and Andrea Jefferson each minimized the damage with solid defensive efforts for 90 minutes each.
