KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Palm Beach Atlantic continues to turn heads with their play in the 2013 soccer season, with the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll ranking the Sailfish as the No. 21 team in NCAA Division II.
PBA, who has a record of 7-1-1 on the season, jumped into the polls after being unranked all season. This is just the third time that the ‘Fish have been in the NSCAA Top 25 in the programs’ history, with the two previous coming in the 2012 season.
Of perhaps even greater importance, Palm Beach Atlantic leap-frogged the University of West Florida in the South Region standings, climbing into the third position. The top three teams from the region at the conclusion of the regular season advance to the NCAA postseason.
Leading the region is NSCAA No. 2 Rollins College, who is a perfect 13-0 this season. Following the Tars are the Saint Leo Lions, who are 9-1-1 on the year. With PBA in the third spot, the rest of the top five includes West Florida at fourth, and Lynn at fifth.
This all sets the stage for an epic matchup Wednesday afternoon, as No. 21 Palm Beach Atlantic hosts No. 2 Rollins in a matchup of two South Region powers.
