WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic used a second half rally focused around senior Kenny Hogg to come back from an early deficit and defeat Florida Tech 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Magic Jack Field.
With PBA trailing 1-0, Hogg got the Sailfish on the scoreboard in the 74th minute. With a beautiful pass through the middle from freshman Lucas Coutinho, Kenny got past the defenders and blasted the equalizer into the back of the net.
After an amazing save from keeper Austin Spagnola that kept the score knotted, the Sailfish struck back thanks to another fine play through the middle of the field.
Freshman midfielder Jared Skinner set the ball perfectly for fellow newcomer Daniel Pena. With a slimmer of an opening, Pena found Hogg, who had a one-on-one with the keeper. With a quick move, Kenny added his second goal of the game and put PBA on top for good. Hogg now has 15 goals for the season in just nine matches played.
Florida Tech got on the board first in the 38th minute of the contest. A set piece near midfield was executed perfectly, and gave the Panthers the first half advantage. With the defense packing it in, Spagnola wound up seeing just six shots, making two saves on the afternoon.
The Sailfish improve to 7-1-1 on the season, and have a full week before their next match. On Wednesday, October 23rd, PBA plays host to NSCAA No. 2 Rollins College, beginning at 3 P.M.
