WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- A large crowd on hand at Magic Jack Field on Wednesday afternoon witnessed a dominating defensive performance by the Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer team as they did not allow a shot from their opponent in Warner University while putting a goal in the back of the net in each half. The 2-0 win improves the Sailfish overall record to 4-4-1 with a road date with Lynn University this Saturday next on the schedule.

Senior Allison Fox earned her third shutout of the season on Wednesday while the stingy defensive play of PBA’s strong backline of Margaret Stewart, Andrea Jefferson and Karina White did not allow for a shot against the veteran PBA keeper.

On the offensive side it was a barrage of shots sent into the direction of Warner’s goalkeeper, Tara Marshall as she faced 24 Palm Beach Atlantic tries including 13 in the first-half.

Sophomore Haily Johnson netted the first goal in the 20th minute of the contest when she scooped up a short goal kick and then delivered a missile back at the WU keeper. The ball sailed past the outstretched arms of Marshall and into the net for a 1-0 PBA lead.

Things remained 1-0 in favor of the ‘Fish until just after halftime when Lesslee Hernandez and Elizabeth Gonzalez teamed up for a double-assist to junior Kierstyn Harrington whose header was knocked in for a 2-0 Sailfish advantage.

PBA would have a few more opportunities down the stretch to add on but would settle for the 2-0 win.

The Blue and White finished with 11 corner kicks while leading 24-0 in shots for the match.

PBA will take on Lynn University in Boca Raton on Saturday, Oct. 19th beginning with a 1 pm kickoff for their next match.
