Sailfish Cross Country Completes Third Race of the Season at UT Invitational

TAMPA, Fla.- The young Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s cross country team continued to improve on Friday afternoon as they competed in their third race of the season by participating in the University of Tampa Invitational at Dover Trails. Going up against a formidable field of runners the Sailfish finished 10th in the team standings while Lexi Fenton scored as the team’s top runner.
Fenton’s time of 22:13 in the women’s 5,000 meter race was good enough for 64th of 125 runners with the top time by a collegiate runner coming in at 18:51 from Kelli Williams of the University of South Florida.
USF earned the team title with 32 points as they placed four runners in the top six finishers while Flagler and UT were close behind at 63 and 66 points respectively. Nova Southeastern University (120 points) and the University of West Florida (124 points) rounded out the top five.
Beyond Fenton’s team-leading time was Jessica Sexton (23:57) and Brianne Anderson (24:15) while Ashley Bofinger (24:18) and Danielle Neal (25:10) also cracked the top-100 runners.
Anna Marie Fidanza rounded out PBA’s participants with a time of 30:12.
The Sailfish will have the next few weeks off before competing in their next race which will be at the Sand Shark Invitational in Beaufort, S.C. on October 26th.
