Sailfish Men's Basketball Releases 2013-14 Season Schedule

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Under the new leadership of head coach David Balza the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s basketball program has released its upcoming 2013-14 season schedule. The Sailfish will officially kickoff the season with a road contest at Rollins College on Nov. 12 before debuting in front of the home crowd on Nov. 16 when they welcome cross-town rival Northwood University to the Rubin Arena for a 4 pm tip-off.
Coach Balza and his staff have been in place since the early summer months and have been busy putting together a competitive slate for the season as well as reshaping the PBA roster.
The ‘Fish are set to play 26 regular season contests as well as a pair of exhibition games including 14 home games within the friendly confines of the Rubin Arena.
Palm Beach Atlantic will battle all nine members of the Sunshine State Conference for a second consecutive season including home-and-home matchups with each member of the SSC.
PBA will test their merits against four NCAA tournament teams from a season ago including two games each against Rollins, Eckerd College, Saint Leo University and Florida Southern College.
Other non-NCAA Division II contests will include home dates with Johnson & Wales University, Trinity College, Florida National University and Northwood.
The team will begin the season with an exhibition lined up against NCAA Division I Stetson University on Nov. 4 with a 7 pm tipoff. Later in the season the team will take on Northwood in an exhibition on Feb. 26.
Early season home contests include key NCAA South Region games against the likes of Florida Tech (Nov. 18), Lynn University (Dec. 4) and Eckerd (Dec. 7) while rounding out the calendar year by hosting Saint Leo (Dec. 20) as well as Johnson & Wales University (Dec. 31).
First semester road trips will include dates at the University of Tampa (Nov. 23) as well as Flagler College (Nov. 30) and defending SSC Champion Florida Southern (Dec. 14). The team’s only out-of-state trip will take place in mid-December as the Blue and White will matchup against a pair of Peach State foes in Morehouse College (Dec. 16, Atlanta, Ga.) and Paine College (Dec. 17, Augusta, Ga.).
The month of January welcomes teams such as Nova Southeastern University (Jan. 11) to town as well as Rollins (Jan. 22) for another key NCAA South Region showdown. February will see Barry University (Feb. 12) as well as Florida Southern (Feb. 22) visit West Palm Beach before the University of Tampa (March 1) rounds out the regular season slate.
