WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Head coach Carlos Palacio has announced the 2013-14 women’s basketball schedule on Wednesday, with the Sailfish once again playing a competitive schedule against many south region foes, as well as a few NCAA Division I opponents.
The season kicks off with an exhibition of the grandest scale, as the Sailfish travel to Waco, Texas to take on a perennial power of Division I, Baylor University. After a short exhibition season, the regular season starts just nine days later, as Palm Beach Atlantic hits the road to take on Saint Leo for one of 18 games against Sunshine State Conference opponents.
Ave Maria comes to West Palm Beach for the first home game of the 2013-14 campaign on November 12th. The Sailfish add eight new players to their roster this coming season, and are looking to make a big splash during the year.
PBA plays five consecutive home games during the month of November and into December, but then leave the friendly confines of the Rubin Arena for eight of their next nine contests.
As the calendar year turns to 2014, the Sailfish look forward to hosting five home games to wind down the season. The final home game of the 2013-14 campaign is against South Florida rival Barry University on February 12th.
Coach Palacio adds about the schedule, “I felt it was important to build a schedule that would challenge our young team to come together early in the season. With eight new players to our team and nine underclassmen, we need to be prepared while building confidence for the tough schedule we face as an independent university.”
