SALEM, Va.- Lindsey Johnson more often than not tends to make a great first impression. Not only a standout academic student and a member of the Palm Beach Atlantic University Honors College as a first-year student-athlete, Johnson impressed opposing teams’ coaches this season with her incredible play on the softball diamond. For her efforts, Johnson was named on Wednesday evening to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American third-team.

The NFCA All-American selection for Johnson is the first for any player in the NCAA-era of Palm Beach Atlantic softball. Johnson was the only outfielder selected to the All-American third-team while being one of seven players from the always-competitive NCAA Division II South Region to be named to the prestigious listing.

In all 45 players from 36 different institutions were selected to the three All-American teams with Midwestern State University leading the way with a total of four selections. The teams were selected by the NFCA-member coaches from around the country which speaks to respect that Johnson quickly gained as a first-year player for the Sailfish.

Johnson burst onto the PBA scene this season from Hazlehurst, Ga. and quickly established herself as one of the most well-rounded student-athletes to wear a Sailfish uniform.

The former Appling Christian Academy product produced a 4.0 grade-point average in the classroom as a Pre-Medicine major while breaking numerous single-season program records.

Johnson concluded her first collegiate season by leading the team in ten offensive categories including batting average (.411), slugging percentage (.681), on-base percentage (.458), runs scored (36), hits (67), runs batted in (47), doubles (18) and total bases (111).

She also produced six homeruns, four triples and 22 stolen bases in 25 attempts.
