Sailfish Take No. 1 Seed as NCCAA South Region Tournament is Announced

LAKELAND, Fla.- The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Region Tournament field was announced on Thursday with the Sailfish baseball team earning the No. 1-seed. Set to take place on the campus of Southeastern University in Lakeland, the Sailfish will be joined by four other teams vying for an automatic berth to the NCCAA National Tournament in Mason, Ohio later this month.
The Fish have finished their regular season with a strong showing of 28-21 on their to earning the No. 1-seed in this year’s NCCAA South Region Tournament.
The team will open play on Tuesday, May 7 at 6 pm when they take on the winner of the No. 4/No. 5 game between Point (Ga.) University and Shorter (Ga.) University.
If the Sailfish are victorious in their first contest they will take on the winner of No. 2-seed Emmanuel College and No. 3-seed Southeastern in the second round on Wednesday at 3 pm.
Should the Fish lose their opener they will drop to the loser’s bracket and battle the loser of Point and Shorter at 12 pm on Wednesday.
The Region Championship is slated for Thursday with an if necessary championship final scheduled for Friday. The tournament will be a double-elimination format.
