MELBOURNE, Fla. – A four-run fifth inning from Florida Tech downed Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday night, giving the Panthers a 5-3 win, and a victory in the season series as well.

Freshman Phil DiLandro ran into some tough luck after cruising in the beginning. He allowed an unearned run in the fourth inning, and then in the decisive fifth, the southpaw surrendered four runs, two unearned, before retiring the ninth batter of the inning.

The offense managed six hits off a quartet of pitching from FIT, with Anthony Ortiz leading the way with two singles. His second inning base knock drove in the first run of the game. Fellow junior Ryan Drew finished 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly, while A.J. Steimel went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Relief pitcher Matt Niedzwiecki came on to pitch the final two innings for PBA and dominated the Panther hitters. The right-hander worked two perfect innings, racking up three strikeouts in the process.

Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action Wednesday afternoon at 4 PM against Ave Maria before taking on Eckerd College in the final home series this weekend.
