WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Thanks to a 4-1 record last week including a win over nationaly-ranked Florida Tech the Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team has continued their recent stretch of being ranked in two regional polls. The Sailfish were named No. 6 in Monday’s release of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and a No. 7 ranking in the release by D2BaseballNews.com.
The Sailfish will enter Tuesday’s regional matchup with Barry (Fla.) University in Miami Shores with an impressive 16-7 record after defeating Florida Tech, LIU Post, the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown and St. Michael’s College last week. The team’s only loss came in extra innings to FIT on Saturday afternoon in their final game of the busy five-game stretch.
The NCBWA regional poll marks the third straight week the Fish have been ranked in the region’s top-10 with this week’s No. 6 ranking proving to be the highest in program history after debuting at No. 8 and dropping to No. 10 in last week’s poll.
The D2BaseballNews.com poll has been more consistent with PBA ranked No. 7 the past two weeks and before that sitting one slot below at No. 8.
PBA has another important week of games on the slate for this week beginning with Tuesday’s contest at Barry University and then a home weekend series versus Saint Leo University. The Sailfish and Lions will square off on Friday, March 22 at 7 pm and then two more games on Saturday, March 23 at 1 pm.
Both Barry and Saint Leo are currently ranked in the top-10 of the South Region rankings. All games this week can be heard live on the Sailfish Sports Network.
