WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Thanks to an impressive 11-4 start to the season the Palm Beach Atlantic University baseball team has received recent recognition by two regional ranking services. D2BaseballNews.com and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) have both placed PBA in their South Region top-10 on Monday.
Both the D2BaseballNews.com poll and the NCBWA South Region poll places the Fish in the No. 8-slot. Both rankings are the first for PBA baseball in their NCAA Division II history.
Delta State (Miss.) University holds the region’s top spot in both polls with a 13-2 early-season record. They are followed by the University of West Florida (10-3), the University of Tampa (11-2), the University of Alabama-Huntsville (16-3) and Florida Tech (15-4) rounding out the top-five.
The University of West Georgia (13-4) and Barry University sit ahead of PBA in the Nos. 6 and 7 spots.
Palm Beach Atlantic is currently riding a three-game winning streak after beating Nova Southeastern University in back-to-back weeks on the road and also defeating Mercyhurst (Pa.) University last Thursday.
The team is taking the first part of Spring Break off while returning to focus on their next weekend series slated to begin on Friday, March 8 at St. Thomas University. The two teams will square off on Friday at 7 pm and return for a double-header beginning at 1 pm on Saturday.
