Dolberry Goes Out In Style, But Saints Top Sailfish 76-62 in Season Finale

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Senior Ashley Dolberry finished her swansong in style on Wednesday night, scoring 28 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the 76-62 loss to Flagler College.

Dolberry finished the night 9-of-20 from the floor and 8-of-12 from the charity stripe en route to her 28 points. The forward also dished out three assists and swiped three steals. Ashley ends her final season with a scoring average of 16.4 points per game and a rebound average of 9.5 boards per game.

PBA trailed by four at halftime, but the Saints came out firing on all cylinders in the second stanza, shooting 48% (13-of-27) from the floor and 92% (12-of-13) from the free throw line. The Sailfish, on the other hand, shot a respectable 37% (11-of-30) from the floor, but managed just 22% (2-of-9) from beyond the three point line.

Palm Beach Atlantic was narrowly edged by the hosts on the rebounding front, 36-35, but the Fish committed 21 turnovers compared to Flagler’s 14.

The Sailfish also got double-digit scoring efforts out of Taylor Peterson, who had 11 points, and Becky Meerbeek, who had 10. For Meerbeek, it was her first time reaching double figures while at Palm Beach Atlantic. Freshman Kimmi McIntosh also tied a career-high in assists with eight.

It was also the final game of the careers of Janeen McCormick and Lynsey Poole Wednesday night. McCormick finished with two points and grabbed three rebounds, while Poole made her first appearance since January 26th because of an injury, scoring six points on 3-of-3 shooting, dishing out three assists and grabbing two boards in 14 minutes of play.

Palm Beach Atlantic finishes the season at 5-20.
