Fish Drop Road Contest At Nova Southeastern University

DAVIE, Fla.- Closing out the 2007 portion of their season, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s basketball team was defeated on the road on Monday afternoon by Nova Southeastern University by a final tally of 80-63.

The Sharks (7-4) jumped out to an early lead against the Fish and never looked back as they led by as many as 32 points in the second-half before the Fish chipped away and cut the ending deficit to only 17 points.

Palm Beach Atlantic (1-15) was paced on the night by a pair of sophomore guards, Melissa Perez and Ashley Adkins. A 5’4” guard from Miami, Florida, Perez led the Sailfish efforts with 14 points and six assists while playing 38 minutes on the floor. Adkins (Nacogdoches, Texas), PBA’s returning scorer from a year ago, also collected 14 points on the afternoon while nailing all five of her free-throws.

Sophomore Brooke Burgess (Palm City, Fla.) also reached double-figures on the night as the 6’0” forward notched 13 points while also bringing down five rebounds.

PBA will now prepare for their next opponent in Valdosta State University which they will battle against on January 3rd at 6 pm.
