PBA Completes Successful Road Trip with Win Over Coastal Georgia

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team wrapped up a solid trip to North Florida on Sunday by defeating the College of Coastal Georgia by a score of 7-2. The Fish earned two wins in doubles and then performed well at the top and bottom of singles competition to wrap up their season-opening road trip with a 2-1 record.

Victoria Baca and Natalia Trotter teamed up for Palm Beach Atlantic at No. 1-doubles and came away with an 8-2 win while Veena Vasquez and Vilja Vahatalo made good at No. 2-doubles with an 8-0 sweep.

Vasquez proved extremely dominant at No. 1-singles for PBA with a 6-0, 6-1 win while Baca was nearly as impressive with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2-singles for the Sailfish.

After CCG claimed a win at No. 3-singles, the Fish bottom of the order proved solid with wins by Vahatalo as well as Jessica Wharton and Liddy Robinson.

Up next for the Sailfish and head coach Chi Ly is their home opener on Thursday, Feb. 7 versus Ave Maria University at 3 pm. The match will be played at Gaines Park.
