WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - With just five games remaining in the regular season, the individual honors for Sailfish senior Ashley Dolberry may just be beginning. As Palm Beach Atlantic’s top scorer and rebounder, Dolberry has been selected to the 2012-13 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for District 5 as named by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Not only has Ashley exceled on the court, averaging 14.6 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game, but the senior Biology major has been able to do so while keeping an outstanding 3.96 cumulative grade point average.
To be nominated for the award, student-athletes must have maintained at least a 3.30 grade point average, been enrolled at the University for at least one year and been either a starter or significant contributor on the court.
The team voted on by the South Region Sports Information Directors which makes up the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), Gulf South Conference (GSC) and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAC).
The Plano, Texas, native became just the second PBA women’s basketball player to ever eclipse the 1,000 point plateau in January. With five games remaining, Dolberry has a chance to become the all-time leading scorer. She is also currently in second all-time in rebounding.
Because she was named to the All-District first team, Dolberry is now eligible to be selected to the Capital One Academic All-American Team, to be announced later this year.
