WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – It was a sour senior night for  Palm Beach Atlantic, as they scratched their way back into the game late, but ran out of gas before the comeback could be complete against Eckerd College, falling in the final home game of the season Saturday, 62-51.

The Sailfish started the second half in a rut and never fully recovered. After trailing by just four at the break, the Tritons went on an 11-2 run to start the second stanza. PBA was able to cut the lead down to five points with just two minutes remaining, but were unable to get the big shot when it counted most.

Palm Beach Atlantic shot just 33% (22-of-67) for the game, and 21% (3-of-14) from behind the three point line. In the end, the difference came at the free throw line, as PBA shot just 33%. Eckerd’s free throw percentage was not much better (54%), but they attempted 41 freebies compared to PBA’s 12.

The Sailfish were led in scoring by senior Lynsey Poole and freshman Kristie Mason, who each had 12. Poole played all 40 minutes of the game and also grabbed nine rebounds. Taylor Peterson also joined them in double-figures with 10 points.

Palm Beach Atlantic celebrated four seniors prior to the game, recognizing Poole, Ashley Dolberry, Janeen McCormick and Juliet Waller for their contributions to the program. Dolberry finished with nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds, and is just 65 points away from becoming the all-time leading scorer for PBA women’s basketball.

The women return to action in one week taking on the Tampa Spartans at 2 P.M. You can catch the broadcast on www.pbasailfish.com.
