WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic offense couldn’t get anything going against a tough Barry defense on Wednesday night, falling to the Buccaneers 59-38 in the Rubin Arena.
The Sailfish trailed 21-17 at the half, but Barry turned up the offensive pressure in the second stanza. The Buccaneers scored 37 second-half points and limited the Sailfish to just 21.
Palm Beach Atlantic was led by Ashley Dolberry, who dropped in 12 points while pulling down 9 boards. The senior was honored before the game for scoring her 1,000 career point on Saturday against Rollins. She is now second on the all-time list for points and rebounds.
The Sailfish also got great efforts from freshmen Taylor Peterson, who had 11 points, and Kimmi McIntosh, who finished with eight points, four rebounds and four assists.
For the game, the Fish shot just 30% (15-of-50), while Barry shot an eye-popping 48% (20-of-51). The Buccs outrebounded PBA 46-26, and made more free throws (13) than Palm Beach Atlantic attempted (10). After committing just four turnovers in the first half, the Sailfish finished the game with 14.
Palm Beach Atlantic will be back in action as part of yet another women’s/men’s double-header on Saturday, hitting the road to take on Florida Southern.
