WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – It took two overtimes for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and Palm Beach Atlantic University to decide a winner, and unfortunately for the Sailfish, they start 2013 in the loss column, falling 84-76 on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Ashley Dolberry gave the Sailfish a career-game, scoring 19 points while grabbing a career-best 19 rebounds, but it just wasn’t enough.

PBA had a six point lead with just over two minutes remaining in the first over time, but key missed free throws and timely shots from the River Hawks ultimately led to their demise.

The game was tied at the half 28-28, then again at the end of regulation, 59-59. In the second overtime, UMass-Lowell outscored Palm Beach Atlantic 10-2.

The Sailfish shot 65% (19-of-29) from the charity stripe on the game, and went just 7-of-26 (27%) from the three-point line. The River Hawks shot 39% (29-of-75) from the floor and 40% (14-of-35) from behind the arc.

Palm Beach Atlantic had three other players finish the game in double-figures. Senior Lynsey Poole had 17, freshman Taylor Peterson had 16, and fellow freshman Kristie Mason had 14.

The Sailfish have a few days off before returning to the Rubin on Saturday to take on Florida Tech as part of a double-header with the Sailfish men’s team. Tip-off is at 2 P.M.
