BOCA RATON, Fla. – Despite a double-double from Ashley Dolberry and a double-digit effort from Taylor Peterson, Palm Beach Atlantic was unable to hold on to an early lead over Lynn, falling to the Fighting Knights, 56-48 on Friday night.
The game was tied, 48-48, with three minutes remaining thanks to a Dolberry bucket, but Lynn would finish out the game on an 8-0 run.
The Sailfish had a great first half, leading by as many as 10 points and shooting 41.4% (12-for-29) from the floor. The defensive effort was even more impressive, with PBA holding Lynn to just 30.3 (10-for-33) shooting from the field and 16.7% (3-for-18) from behind the arc. Unfortunately, the Knights built momentum going into halftime.
After closing out the half on a 6-0 run, the Lynn shooting started to heat up in the second half. The Fighting Knights shot 34.6% (9-for-26) from the floor and 38.5% (5-for-13) from downtown. Lynn’s defense also kicked it up a notch, holding PBA to just 16 points in the second half on 26.1% (6-for-23) shooting.
Peterson notched her second straight game with a double-digit scoring effort, leading PBA with 12 points. Dolberry earned her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Kristie Mason added nine points to the Sailfish total, while Lynsey Poole’s run of consecutive games with double-digits points was snapped at seven, finishing with eight points.
The Sailfish face a short turnaround, squaring off with defending NCAA Division II national champion Shaw University on Monday at 1 p.m.
