Flagler Sweeps Season Series Versus Palm Beach Atlantic on the Hardwood

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Sailfish men’s basketball team welcomed in Flagler College on Saturday afternoon as part of a full menu of hoops on tap for the Rubin Arena. After a ten-point cushion at half, the Saints pushed the pedal down even further in the second stanza as they cruised to an 83-49 win over the PBA.
The Saints improve to 4-1 on the season while the Sailfish drop to 1-6. Flagler also defeated PBA in St. Augustine by a score of 86-80.
Flagler utilized their strength with a 41-32 lead on the boards while using their speed and athleticism to force PBA into 16 turnovers.
A low-scoring first-half saw neither team get into an offensive rhythm as Flagler clung to a 31-21 lead at the break.
The second period however belong to FC from the beginning as they pushed their advantage to as many as 36 points by shooting 58.6 percent from the floor including 6-of-8 attempts (75 percent) from long-range.
Flagler also did damage at the free-throw line by knocking down 17-of-20 attempts for the contest.
Sophomore Marcus Hardy led PBA’s efforts with 13 points and eight rebounds while Christian Martinez added in 10 points. Nate Vera led all players with 10 rebounds.
The Saints were paced by 15 points and four steals from guard Matt Clark while Matt Conway and Jordan Warner added in solid totals of 12 and 11 points respectively. All ten Saints players who registered court time scored at least four points.
PBA will return to their home floor following Finals Week with a Saturday, December 15th matchup with St. Augustine College at 4 pm.
