WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Sailfish baseball program and head coach Kent Bottenfield unveiled the 2013 team schedule on Monday with the team set to kick off the 2013 campaign in early February. The Fish will officially begin the season with a three-day tournament in Valdosta, Georgia before coming home to take on a host of top talent throughout the season.
The season will include 25 home games on the schedule including their annual early-season matchup with Lynn University to once again be played at Roger Dean Stadium in nearby Jupiter, Florida.
In what has become a tradition between the two Palm Beach County rivals, the Sailfish and Fighting Knights will battle this season on Friday, February 8th at Roger Dean Stadium which is the Spring Training home of both the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals.
Lynn is one of eight members of the Sunshine State Conference that the Sailfish will battle during the course of the season including a total of 34 games versus members of the SSC.
Many of these games will be played within the traditional weekend series format of one game on Friday and a double-header on Saturday.
Other non-regional opponents will include matchups versus Florida Memorial University, Ave Maria University, Northwood University and Mercyhurst University among others.
The team’s official home opener will take place on Tuesday, February 5th in a showdown with Florida Memorial at 6 pm.
