Hogg, Gomez Take NCCAA South Region Top Honors; Four Others Named All-Region

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team continues to rack up individual awards, with five players selected to the NCCAA All-region team, including striker Kenny Hogg, who was honored as the South Region Player of the Year. The Sailfish won the South Region crown over Southern Wesleyan in a shootout, and head coach Jose Gomez was named Region Coach of the Year.
PBA starts its trek to the NCCAA National Championship on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against North Central Region champion Bethel College.
Joining Hogg on the All-Region team is senior Lewis Thompson, juniors Kevin Ireland and Evan Singlar, and sophomore Branden Langenberg.
Kenny leads all of NCAA DII in scoring with 28 goals and 59 points. He had three goals in the opening round of the South Region tournament against Columbia International.
Singlar has elevated his game to another level in the final month of the season, scoring five goals and five assists in the final four regular season matches, while adding three goals and two assists in the regional.
Ireland, who finished the year with five assists and a goal, was instrumental in the midfield throughout the year. He helped Langenberg and Thompson on the back line contribute to a defense that allowed one goal per game and recorded eight shutouts.
