WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Lynsey Poole tossed in a game-high 15 points and Ashley Dolberry tied her career high with 17 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for the Sailfish, as NCAA No. 4 Rollins College spoiled the first game of the season at the Rubin Arena, 57-42 on Saturday night.
PBA, 0-2 overall, trailed just 28-21 at the half while shooting just 27.6% compared to Rollins 40.0%. The Tars then took a commanding lead thanks to a 16-4 run to start the second half.
Poole was the only Lady Sailfish to finish the game in double figures, but freshman Kristie Mason netted a career-high nine points, while Dolberry fell just one point shy of a double-double, also finishing with nine.
The key to the game was seen in the statline, as Rollins dominated Palm Beach Atlantic on the boards, 51-38. PBA was held to just 15-of-60 (25%) shooting for the contest, and managed just 3-of-20 (15%) from beyond the three-point line. Both teams finished with identical 9-for-13 marks from the free throw line, as well as ten turnovers.
The Sailfish look to bounce back for their first victory of 2012 on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Saint Leo to take on the Lions at 4 PM.
