TIFFIN, Ohio- Another successful season for the Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer team has seen six players and head coach James Kryger named to the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) postseason listing. The annual awards were announced on Friday by ICAA Director Mike Bond as the Sailfish regular season has closed at 11-4-1.

The ICAA is composed of NCAA Division II schools that are not in a conference.  Women’s soccer members are Chowan University, Daemen College, Lincoln University, Oakland City University, Palm Beach Atlantic, Salem International University, Washington Adventist University and Western State University.

Coach Kryger earned his second ICAA Coach of the Year honor after winning the distinction following the 2010 season.

Player of the Year was midfielder Tara O’Brien of Lincoln.  She had 16 goals with four assists for 36 points in 14 games.  O’Brien had four game-winning goals and is currently second in the country in goals and points per game (1.14, 2.71).

Freshman of the Year was Kim Obermeier of Daemen.  Obermeier, a midfielder, had seven goals with two assists for 16 points.

Four players from PBA were named to the All-ICAA first-team including senior Juliet Waller, junior goalkeeper Allison Fox and sophomores Karoline Harnes and Margaret Stewart. Senior Ashley Shoaf and freshman Kasey Wyer were each chosen to the All-ICAA second-team.

Waller leads the Fish in goals with eight and points with 17 in a total of 15 matches during the season. The Charlotte, North Carolina native has been a four-year contributor to the PBA women’s soccer team as a forward and team leader.

Fox has also been a consistent presence for the Sailfish in goal as she has started ever match of her first three seasons. This season has seen Fox put up her most impressive numbers yet with eight shutouts while stopping 69 shots on the season. Her goals against average of 0.73 per game makes her one of the top goalkeepers in all of the NCAA.

Karoline Harnes and Stewart have also been big factors in the defensive work of the PBA backline this season as both have helped lead the team to their impressive marks. Harnes has also chipped in two goals and two assists while Stewart produced her first goal of the season in their last match on a penalty kick. Stewart leads all position players with 1,417 minutes played while starting all 16 matches on the season while Harnes is second on the team with 1,387 minutes played.

Shoaf has been as consistent a player as one would hope for over her four-year career as a starter for the Sailfish. Her senior campaign has posted three goals and four assists while starting all 16 matches to date.

Wyer has been a nice addition to the Sailfish lineup in 2012 with her speed and offensive playmaking abilities. A native of Greer, South Carolina, Wyer is second on the team in points with 12 thanks to her six assists to go along with three goals.

The Sailfish will now turn their attention to the upcoming NCCAA Regional Tournament that PBA will host on Friday-Saturday, November 16-17.
