Ashley Dolberry Selected to Pre-Season ICAA Listing

TIFFIN, Ohio- Senior forward Ashley Dolberry has been selected to the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) Pre-Season All-ICAA team as announced by Director Mike Bond on Monday. A native of Plano, Texas, Dolberry returns as PBA’s top rebounder while also being looked upon for leadership on the offensive end.
Although only 5’9”, Dolberry is known for her constant hustle and ability to outwork her opponent on both ends of the floor.
Now entering her fourth season as a Sailfish, Dolberry is coming off a junior campaign in 2011-12 where she averaged 9.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She added in 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game as well.
She will join teammate Lynsey Poole as returning starters for a young Sailfish squad in 2012-13 under first-year head coach Carlos Palacio.
The ICAA for women’s basketball includes all NCAA Division II Independent teams including PBA, Daemon College, Oakland City University, Salem International University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Washington Adventist University.
Ellie Allen of Daemon was named the ICAA Preseason Player of the Year after averaging 13.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game last season. She earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors last season.
Joining Allen and Dolberry on the ICAA Preseason includes Chelsea Andorka (Daemen), Justine Blade (South Dakota Mines) and Chelsea Jones (Oakland City).
The Sailfish will open the season this weekend when they travel to Fort Lauderdale for a season-opening tip with Nova Southeastern on Friday, November 9th at 6 pm.
