Ashley Shoaf Named to Capital One Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- With the regular season quickly winding to a close it now becomes time to begin awards season with Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer player Ashley Shoaf as the first honoree. The senior forward was named on Thursday to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Team for District 5 as named by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Shoaf is completing her fourth season in a Sailfish uniform where she has been a standout her entire career at the forward position.
The 13-member team was released Thursday afternoon. To be nominated for the award, student-athletes must have maintained at least a 3.30 grade point average, been enrolled at the University for at least one year and been either a starter or significant contributor on the field.
Shoaf qualified in all these categories and was named to the team by the vote of the South Region Sports Information Directors which makes up the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), Gulf South Conference (GSC) and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAC).
Leading her team to a 10-4-1 mark through Thursday as well as a regional NCAA ranking, Shoaf has tallied three goals and three assists on the season while currently standing fourth on the team in minutes played with 1,228.
She is also a Medicinal and Biological Chemistry major who currently holds an impressive 3.61 grade-point average in her studies.
Because she was named to the All-District Team, Shoaf is now eligible to be named to the Capital One Academic All-American Team to be announced later.
