PBA Women's Cross Country Concludes Season At NCCAA Nationals

CEDARVILLE, OHIO- After taking two runners to the NCAA Regional championship last weekend, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s cross country team closed out their 2007 campaign by traveling to Cedarville University to take part in the NCCAA National Cross Country championships.
After finishing 18th at the NCAA regional in Huntsville, Alabama last weekend, PBA standout Hannah Berg concluded her running career at PBA with a finish of 29th overall in the NCCAA National Championship. As a team, PBA finished 19th out of 24 competing teams, ranging all across the nation.
A senior from Oviedo, Florida, Berg ran a final time of 19:37.04 in the national meet, good enough for 29th place out of over 160+ competitors. Indiana Wesleyan junior Emily LaSala took home the first-place honors with a time of 17:59.04 while Cedarville University earned top-team honors with a total score of 29 points. Malone College finished second (64 points) while Indiana Wesleyan University finished third (94 points).
“It was a very competitive field and the girls responded with a solid effort overall,” said head coach Chi Ly.
Other PBA runners competing included Katie Livesay with a time of 22:40.64 which was good enough for 110th overall. Christina Brown, a sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida, completed the race in a time of 24:47 which placed her 137th in the field while freshman Kelly Schwartz finished 148th at 26:31.00. Gloria Flores rounded out PBA’s contributors with a time of 26:50.87 at 151st.
