WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis team gathered together on Friday evening at the Pepsi Bash at the Beach Volleyball Tournament hosted by PBA over the weekend as the team was honored with receiving their championship rings for winning the NCCAA National Championship last May.
All but one player was on hand for the event while two assistant coaches were also absent as nine players and head coach Chi Ly received their rings during the break time of the Sailfish volleyball match versus Barry University.
The members of the team on hand (L-R in the picture above) were Natalia Trotter, Veena Vasquez, Vilja Vahatalo, Jessica Wharton, Liddy Robinson, Victoria Baca, Alexis Antista, Leyla Taracena and Maria Jimenez.
The NCCAA title was the second in women’s tennis history at PBA while marking the sixth overall championship in Sailfish athletics history. The other champions are: men’s soccer (2010), men’s tennis (2010), softball (2009), women’s volleyball (2004) and women’s tennis (2004) who is now the only multi-year championship sport.
All but one player is set to return for this season’s women’s tennis team under Coach Ly who earned his third NCCAA National Championship as he leads both tennis programs at PBA.
