KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) after a strong weekend showing in North Carolina, with the Sailfish landing in the No. 6 spot in the South Region for week three. The Fish move up two spots from week two after defeating Queens University and Pfeiffer University in road victories.
The Sailfish are off to a tremendous start, going 6-0 and outscoring opponents by an overwhelming 21-3 so far. The Fish haven't seen a start to the season this successful since 2007, where the Jose Gomez-led squad started 4-0.
The NCAA South Region is led by Lynn University at No. 1 followed by the University of Tampa at No. 2. Rollins College comes in at the No. 3 spot, while Saint Leo and Florida Tech round out the top five just ahead of PBA.
The offensive production for the Sailfish has been led by junior Kenny Hogg, who leads the NCAA Division II in numerous offensive categories, including Points per Game, Goals per Game, Total Points and Total Goals scored. He's been aided by a strong defensive effort anchored by keeper Jonathan Strunk. Strunk has allowed just three goals this season while collecting 17 saves and posting one shut out.
Palm Beach Atlantic travels to regional rival Nova Southeastern for its only game this week on Wednesday night to take on the Sharks at 6 PM.
