GREENVILLE, S.C.- Following two big performances not to mention two team victories last week, Sailfish men’s soccer junior Kenny Hogg was named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week as announced by the National Office. Hogg was awarded the honor for the week of August 27-September 1.
Hogg is in his second season with the Sailfish and has now collected his second career NCCAA National Player of the Week nod following his first honor last season for the week of September 19-25, 2011.
The award was not a surprise for the Irvine, Scotland native as Hogg posted five of his team’s seven goals over a two-game swing to Colorado as the Sailfish earned a 2-1 win over Adams State University in their season opener and a 5-0 win over Colorado Christian University in their second match.
Hogg’s two second-half goals against ASU were the difference as PBA trailed 1-0 at one point before Hogg deposited two scores in the back of the net in a two-minute time frame.
He would once again do significant damage against CCU when he scored the game’s opening goal while adding in two more in the second-half.
A true striker, Hogg is coming off a terrific first season wearing the Blue and White when he topped the NCAA Division II leader board with 23 goals and 48 points.
The Fish return to action with a pair of tough contests this weekend at the Wyndham Boca Raton Classic as they will battle Anderson (S.C.) University on Friday, September 7th and Ave Maria (Fla.) University on Saturday, September 8th.
