LAKEWOOD, Colo. – It was another terrific performance from junior Kenny Hogg to lead the way for Palm Beach Atlantic over host Colorado Christian on Sunday night. Hogg knocked home three goals, leading the Sailfish to a 5-0 victory over the Cougars, and sending the PBA squad back to West Palm Beach undefeated on the young season.
Hogg started the scoring early with one of two unassisted goals on the day with a strike in the 11th minute. Newcomer Melo Matutu knocked home his first goal as a Sailfish just four minutes later thanks to an assist from Evan Singlar. The onslaught continued when senior Charlie Hubbard was set up by AJ Black in the 31st minute to make it 3-0 before the half.
Hogg scored his second goal of the game less than two minutes into the second half, and any hope for a Cougar comeback was buried. Hogg would add a penalty kick goal two minutes later for his fifth goal in just two matches.
Goalies Jonathan Strunk and Austin Spagnola combined for the shutout, with Strunk only being tested once in the contest. Palm Beach Atlantic outshot Colorado Christian 17-4 overall and an overwhelming 11-1 in shots on goal.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to the pitch on Friday, September 6th to take on the Anderson (S.C.) University. The Sailfish and Trojans kick-off at 1 PM at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.
